Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson (Santa Barbara, October 25, 1984), known by the stage name Katy Perry, is a 5 American singer and composer of pop and dance music. Daughter of a couple of evangelical pastors, began his career singing in churches and even release a gospel music studio album in 2001, titled Katy Hudson (even stage name used by it at the time), but which had its canceled sales due to closure of Red Hill Records, responsible for producing the album. After changing her stage name Katy Perry and his musical style to the pop-rock, she met producer Glen Ballard and signed with Island Def Jam Records in 2004, recording an album called (A) Katy Perry (aka Diamonds) but that was canceled before its release.
In 2005, she signed with Columbia Records and recorded with The Matrix group an album with the same name; a few days before its release, the album was also canceled.
The singer signed with Capitol Records in 2007 and the following year finally released his first pop music studio album and pop rock, One of the Boys. The album's first single, "I Kissed a Girl", was in the first position of the charts in Australia, Canada, USA, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, making it the first hit of his career, despite becoming world controversy. The second single from the album, "Hot n Cold", also performed well on the charts in several countries, getting on the podium of the American charts and irlandesa.10 With over 6,000,000 copies sold worldwide, One of the Boys was rated -platinum in the United States of America by the Association of Recording Industry, with over 1,000,000 copies sold. Yet that same album, Perry released his third work song entitled "Thinking of You", and also the fourth and final single, titled "Waking Up in Vegas".
In 2010, his second album, titled Teenage Dream was released. The CD generated six singles to date - "California Gurls," the title track, "Firework", "ET", "Last Friday Night (TGIF)" and "The One That Got Away". The first five reached the top of the Hot 100 Billboard chart, making Teenage Dream's second album in history to achieve this feat and converting Perry the only woman in 53 years the parade and reach that mark - and the second artist after Michael Jackson, the first and so far only singer to topple five songs from his album Bad in the first place, in 1987. Furthermore, when "E.T." remained in the first place graphic on April 12, 2011, Perry became the first artist in history to spend a whole year - 52 consecutive weeks - in the top 10 of the main Billboard charts
Perry has sold approximately 74.6 million singles and 9.1 million albums worldwide and is currently the sixth biggest selling artist digital songs in the United States with over 37.6 million songs sold. She has repeatedly indicated in the music industry awards such as the Grammy Award, MTV Video Music Awards, MTV Europe Music Awards, People's Choice Awards, Teen Choice Awards and Kids' Choice Awards. Considered a symbol fri, the singer was voted the "Sexiest Woman in the World 2010" by the readers of Maxim magazine.
